After we pick you up from your hotel, we take you to the dock, where you get a light breakfast, receive a briefing and we answer any questions you may have. After the full explanation, we get on the boats and head out to swim with whale sharks in Cancun!

We ask for a 50% deposit. The rest can be paid on the day of the tour + the $10 per person marine park fee.

*Pickup time might be up to one hour earlier depending on the hotel locationIf you are staying in the Holbox Island hotel zone, you are picked up at your hotel at 7:00 a.m. and taken to the main whale shark dock. If your place is downtown at a short walking distance (usually less than 3 minutes) we ask you to be there at 7:45 a.m. (exact time will be confirmed a day before). If for any reason you cannot walk, we pick you up at your hotel in Holbox anyway.
We should be back to Holbox Island after the tour by 2 p.m., depending on the weather conditions. On the way back, we stop for about 45 minutes in Cabo Catoche, a beautiful spot with virgin beaches.

CANCUN WHALE SHARK TOURS ITINERARY:
You will be picked up at your hotel between the hours of 4:40 am and 7 am (depending on your starting location – Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum – Akumal, Riviera Maya, Isla Mujeres, Holbox). We try to start earlier than other companies in order to get where the whale sharks to avoid the crowds. We will take you from your hotel to our private marina in Cancun where our boats are docked.
You will receive a briefing on the tour and be provided with complimentary coffee, fruit juice, and sweet rolls. Once everything has been explained and all of your questions have been answered we will board the boat and head out to sea!
The trip out to where the whale sharks generally congregate takes about 45 minutes. If you wish, you will be given the opportunity to swim 2 times with the whale sharks (maybe 3 or 4 if the conditions are perfect and the captain decides it is safe to do so). You will go in turns of two at a time, with our guide. You may as well bring your own cameras, video recorder, or rent a Go Pro with us for $50 which includes a memory card, and our guide will help you take pictures and videos during the tour.
We usually see dolphins, manta rays and sea turtles on the way. After swimming with the whale sharks our boat will take you to a reef near Contoy Island or Isla Mujeres, depending on which one is closer to where we will found the whale sharks on that day. Once there you will be provided purified water, soft drinks, ceviche and be given time to snorkel. Sandwiches, waters and soft drinks will always be available on the boat and the guide will offer them to you. Vegan and vegetarian food are available if notified when making the reservation.
All of our boats have 2 engines, an emergency toilet and are without any doubt the safest and fastest of the area. They are up to 35 feet long which is the longest allowed by law for this tour. They have a covering to protect you from the sun, comfortable seats as well as ladders to provide easy access in and out of the water.
Any day you choose is fine with us, but we recommend that you book this for the first couple days of your trip because you never know if there will be weather issues. You will be able to reschedule if we deem the weather or water conditions are not safe enough for the tour, which we will inform you the day before you are scheduled. If for any reason you are no longer able to take part in the tour we will refund 100% of your deposit.
It is important to be aware that in order to find and see the whale sharks we go out to open waters and sometimes it can get rough. Most of the time the conditions are very good but the weather can be unpredictable.
The whale sharks are beautiful animals that live in the sea and are not dangerous at all, but their behavior can be unpredictable. We mention this to make sure that you understand that this is not a tour like going to an archaeological Mayan site, unpredictable occurrences may happen.
We think it is important to mention all this so you know what to expect on our tours. You´ll see excellent comments on our company everywhere. We sell quality and an unforgettable experience as long as mother nature is on our side, when it is not on our side we do our best to make the trip as pleasant as possible. Our staff and crew are specially trained for this and always do their best. It is also a good idea to take some motion sickness pills before the tour if you tend to get seasick easily.
You will be back at your hotel before 4 pm if the weather conditions allow us to finish early.
WEATHER POLICY:
In case the weather does not allow us to go on the tour on that day, which happens very seldom, we put it off until another day. If for any reason you can’t participate in the tour on the new date, we refund 100% of your payment.
WHALE SHARK TOURS CANCUN CANCELLATION POLICY:
- Cancellations made from 45 to 8 days prior to the tour receive 100% of deposit back.
- Cancellations made from 8 to 2 days prior to the tour receive 75 % of deposit back.
- Cancellations made less than 36 hours prior to the tour get no refund but you will get the opportunity to do the tour any other day during the season with no extra charge.
- Cancellations made after midday the day before the tour get no refund at all or opportunity to do it again with no charge.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
We would like to mention that we cannot guarantee to see the whale sharks as we cannot control mother nature. Thus we do not refund our customers if we do not see a whale shark. It is extremely rare that we do not see a Whale Shark as it is normal to see from 20 or 50 or even more than 150, but it is possible to see only 5 or none at all. It can happen despite all of our efforts to find them and we, therefore, cannot give any kind of guarantee or refund. This has been a federal rule since 2016, so it is the same for all companies. Also, it is possible that sea conditions can make it very difficult to see and find them and this is possible that it happens to your tour. This tour is not recommended for children under 4.
There will be no tours running on each day 30th, May 30th, June 30th, July 30th and August 30th will be days off.
